Artist Statement

I paint to challenge peoples perspectives and to engage them with an open mind and wit. I paint intuitively using an expressive painting style, developed from 35 years of creating art.

I am compelled to paint, as I need to express without dialog. My childhood took a dramatic and unusual turn  –  and that experience has deeply rooted my need to understand what happened and for others to see the world through my eyes. The paintings are a portal or a window to my life, and within them I like to develop imagery and ideas that can surface during the creative process. It never ceases to amaze me the surprise that painting offers and what I choose to do with it.
